Mylee Gel Base Coat & Top Coat Review
The process of completing your own gel manicure and getting those flawless Mylee nails, includes applying a base coat before you apply any colour. Then you apply the top coat at the end to seal the colour and finish your nail transformation.
Fortunately, you can get Mylee’s gel base coat and top coat as a duo so you always have everything you need to do your nails.

Texture and viscosity – 9/10
Both the base coat and the top coat are thick enough to boost the longevity of your manicure – which I love! One thin layer is usually enough of the base coat to apply before adding your colour.
This is because you don’t want the final result to be too bulky, and you usually add two coats of gel colour to ensure the final look is as vibrant as possible.
Affordability – 10/10
You can get both the gel base coat and top coat for £15.99 on Amazon and they last a long time. Of course, it depends on how often you do your nails but I’ve had mine for over a year now and they haven’t run out. Make sure to keep the lid on tight though, as this ensures the polish doesn’t dry out and you can use it for as long as possible.
Longevity – 8/10
I can say pretty confidently that my Mylee nails will remain intact for a week and a half with this base and top coat, which is pretty good for an at-home gel kit.
I will admit that I’m pretty haphazard when it comes to nail care. So I often chip or scuff nails, no matter whether I do them at home or get them done at the salon. To prevent this, I’ll usually try to add a thicker layer of top coat.
Scent – 8/10
Your average nail polish scent, but not too overpowering. If you have an extra sensitive nose, make sure there’s good airflow when you’re doing your manicure and you’ll be just fine.
Mylee Santorini Rooftops Review
This is such a beautiful blue for the nails, especially if you’ve got darker skin like me. It’s just bright enough to catch everyone’s attention, whilst also being versatile enough to go with any outfit! I absolutely adore using Santorini Rooftops for my summer manicures.
Texture and viscosity – 10/10
This gel polish is the tiniest bit thinner than the top coat and base coat, but still thick enough to get decent colour in one coat. Although, I’d still recommend two coats for an extra vibrant mani.
Affordability – 10/10
One thing about Mylee? They’re gonna help you perfect your at-home manicures for a super affordable price. Santorini Rooftops is £8.99 on Amazon and it has lasted me a lifetime. I’ve also seen that you can now get the liner gel version too! If you’d like an easier way to perfect your coloured tips or nail art.
Longevity – 9/10
Again, the longevity of this gel nail polish is great considering the price. If you’re more careful than me, you can expect your manicure to last around 2 weeks. This was how my coloured tips looked after the same period. Basically flawless with a few minor chips!
Scent – 8/10
You won’t get a headache from this gel polish luckily. Its no more pungent than your average non-gel polish.

Mylee So Nude Review
This is ideal for the the lovers of clean girl nails. If you can’t bear the thought of a bright nails, this will help your mani go undetected. I used this as the base colour on my nails and added Santorini Rooftops on the tips.
The only qualm I have with this is that the photo on-site is quite misleading. You would think you’re getting a solid pink but it’s super sheer when you get it. It was a pleasant surprise for me as I’m not a huge fan of baby pinks on my nails, but I imagine others may be disappointed.
Texture and viscosity -7/10
This gel polish is on the thinner, side so you may have to build up more layers if you want your manicure to last longer. I personally quite liked this because I don’t mind a sheer, thin layer of nude gel polish as my base.
Affordability – 10/10
Just like the rest of the range, So Nude is nice and affordable. You can buy a bottle for £8.99 on Amazon whilst you stock up on the rest of your gel nail kit essentials.
Longevity – 10/10
This polish is extremely durable if you’re wearing it on its own. I can’t think of a time when I’ve chipped this, ever! Which is a huge achievement for me.
Scent – 8/10
I wouldn’t say it’s totally scentless, but like the others in this blog, I don’t think you’ll find the smell overpowering.

My Mylee gel review: final thoughts

Gets the job done!
So, is Mylee a good brand? You can’t go wrong with Mylee’s gel polishes in my opinion. They’re affordable, high quality and you get exactly what you see on the tin. I also think Mylee is a great nail tech gift for someone who’s just starting out. No it won’t be as hard-wearing as a salon gel manicure, but that could also be down to application too.
